About Me
My name is Allie Joseph and I am a proud and passionate third grade teacher. I hold an initial license in Massachusetts to teach grades 1-6. I studied Elementary Education and Psychology at Brandeis University and I am currently in the Leadership in Mathematics graduate program at Bank Street College of Education.
I am a third grade teacher at Edward Brooke Charter School in Boston, MA. I have also taught at Maimonides Elementary School in Brookline, MA. My strengths as a teacher include teaching mathematics, establishing routines in the classroom, and implementing project-based learning.
I believe in guiding students towards making their own discoveries, encouraging students to reach their individual potential, integrating the curriculum through meaningful and innovative projects, and creating a safe, positive classroom environment in which all students can learn. Most importantly, I challenge my students to take risks. They know that it is okay to make mistakes, but it is not okay to not try.
At the end of the year I ask my students to write a letter of advice to incoming third graders. One former student summed up the third grade experience as follows: "Third grade with Miss Joseph is the best place to be. Miss Joseph is the best teacher. She expects you to work hard. When you are in Miss Joseph's class, you don't waste a second. She never lets you give up. Miss Joseph can be silly and serious. First she is your teacher, then she is your friend."
